Data Scan Upgrade - Character Challenges is a Red Brick in LEGO City Undercover which upgrades the Data Scan function of the Communicator so that it shows Character Challenges, which are tasks which can only be completed while wearing a specific Disguise. Character challenges are marked with a + on the map.
Unlike most red bricks, once Data Scan Upgrades are purchased, they default to being enabled in the Extras menu.

In Auburn, just north of the border with Cherry Tree Hills. Find a small patch of grass with a bench and a green trashcan. Smash the trashcan to reveal a Detective Point. Activate the detective point and follow the trail of footprints to a pile of leaves which conceals the red brick.
