Marion Dunby is a member of the LEGO City police force in LEGO City Undercover, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins and LEGO Dimensions. In The Chase Begins, he is a deputy. In Undercover, he has replaced Gleeson as police chief.
Described as "tough but unfair", Dunby is known to like taking credit for the accomplishments of his underlings, as how he deported Chase and took all the credit for Rex Fury's arrest. Dunby is unhappy at Chase McCain's return to LEGO City, as Dunby fears McCain will steal the spotlight from him.
Appearance[]
Dunby wears the standard police uniform with extra badges to show his rank as chief, his hat is not worn by any other characters. He has a black mustache and as stated in LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, has no hair.
Personality[]
Initially, Dunby appears to be a rude person who constantly yells at his officers for even the smallest things, mostly Chase McCain and Frank Honey. He is also a cocky, impatient, callous, aggressive, and immature police chief who has a huge dislike for McCain due to him revealing Natalia's identity to the public. However, at the end of the game, he offered Chase to arrest Rex Fury, probably to make up for his behavior towards him throughout the game, only for Chase to decline that offer and let Dunby have it.
Relationships[]
Chase McCain[]
Dunby and Chase had a very tense relationship ever since he joined the police force, although at first Dunby was just bossing him around and looked down on him for being a new officer. Their relationship doesn't improve at the end where Dunby has no problem convincing the police department into banishing him to Brick Country and ignores his warnings of Rex escaping.
Once Chase returned, Dunby isn't pleased to have him back on the force, but only puts up with him since as police chief, he can boss Chase around without repercussions. Since he discovered on what McCain has been doing while undercover, their tensions continued to grow further. Their tensions grew even more because Chan Chuang disappeared because of Chase while he was rescuing Natalia, leading him to transfer Chase to Sheriff Huckleberry's department. At the end of the game, he apologizes to Chase for being so cold towards him and offers him the opportunity to arrest Rex Fury, but he declines this and thinks that Dunby should arrest Rex while he reconnects with Natalia.
Frank Honey[]
Due to Frank being an intern and having little experience, Dunby was always hard on him, just like McCain. He is shown to have very little patience with the new officer and in the loading screens, he often talks about how he wants to fire Frank.
Mayor Gleeson[]
Back when she was police chief, Dunby had to pretend to be nice to Chase around her. Dunby is shown to be afraid of angering her, as when Frank exposed to Gleeson that Chase was taken off the Rex Fury case.
